Week 6 Reflection

Image
For week 6 we made our food art... For my food art I made an aquarium out of cheeze-its, fruit loops, popcorn, and goldfish, and for the butterfly I used apples, cheeze-its, fruit loops, and popcorn. These types of activities affect the development of children by teaching them how to recycle and to use their creative skills. It also could develop patience and resilience if someone messes up or fails. You could use this activity in your curriculum for may lessons. You could use them for lessons on recycling, nutrition, and science.  Next, we went to the Maltby center to look at the art gallery and museum.    There was two pieces of art that stood out to me at the gallery. The first one was the picture of the old car and tree that when you walked side to side, it shifted from being an old tree to a new tree and an old car to a newer car. I don't remember who made the painting, but it was very cool. The second one I found very interesting was the one with the hands an...

Week 5 Reflection

Emma Stankovic  Vocabulary and reflection-  This week we were in the dance studio at stoner learning how to include different dances and movement into lessons with students. Some vocabulary we learned this week was time, direction, and space in relation to perceptual motor skills. Examples of this would be things such as how we don't need to look behind us when stepping backwards. Other vocabulary we learned was three fundamental movement skills. Locomotor, non-locomotor, and object control. Examples of this would be ways we can move or stay in motion.  Artwork-  I didn't get any artwork evidence from this week but I found this image online.  However, I did really like this week in the dance classroom. It was very fun to get out of the classroom and out of our comfort zones. I think my favorite activity we had to do was creating our own dance to the lyrics of the song.  Questions-  How might these types of activities affect the learning and development...

Week 4 Reflection

Emma Stankovic  Reflection-  This week we talked about the importance of music in the classroom. We watched videos from “the sound of music” as examples of ways to get music into the classrooms. We then did an activity with our tables where we had to create the perfect classroom set up to involve music. In our classroom we had a projector for music videos, a music library, and carpet seating with instruments. We then had to come up with a way to add culture into our music classroom. My table came up with the idea to learn a new song once a month for a different culture. After we made the posters we did a gallery walk which was very helpful to be able to hear everyone else's feedback and ideas.  We also watched a video on how a teacher got students to use music and rocks from our last lesson all to create a story with meaning. Artwork- Questions- How might these types of activities affect the learning and development of children?  These activities affect the learning ...

Week 3 Reflection

1. Concepts and terms-  This week we talked about how you could incorporate rocks and art into different subjects. This goes into the concept of how we can use art in our everyday classrooms when teaching. Some terms that go along with this are... guided instruction, art involving social emotional connections, and mindful painting. We also used a story book as a way to keep us engaged on painting the rocks and not getting distracted. 2. Artwork Evidence- This project would easily be done by having students get cylinder shaped items (corks, paper towel holders, and many other things) to create different animals that have wings like birds or butterflies.  This is done by gluing construction paper cut out of wings onto the object and then gluing eyes onto it and decorating them individual to every student. This could be used in a classroom setting to teach a lesson on animals or evolution with caterpillars and butterflies.  3. Questions-  How did the activity you attend...
