Week 12 Blog
Some of the new concepts I learned this week were statue, narrative pantomime, teacher in role, person in a mess, and hot seating. Statuing is when in the book the students have to freeze in a position. Narrative pantomime is when you make a movement similar to what the book is talking about while still reading the book. Teacher in role is when the teacher does the role of the book. A person in a mess is when the teacher asks the students for a solution to a problem someone in the book is having. Lastly, hot seating is when you make a student be the character in the book and ask them how they are feeling. I feel like using drama techniques as a teaching tool is a great idea. I think it is very useful to keep students engaged and focused. These activities might affect the learning and development of children in a good way because it could make them more confident in front of their peers and other things like that.
