Week 3 Reflection

1. Concepts and terms-

This week we talked about how you could incorporate rocks and art into different subjects. This goes into the concept of how we can use art in our everyday classrooms when teaching. Some terms that go along with this are... guided instruction, art involving social emotional connections, and mindful painting. We also used a story book as a way to keep us engaged on painting the rocks and not getting distracted.

2. Artwork Evidence-

This project would easily be done by having students get cylinder shaped items (corks, paper towel holders, and many other things) to create different animals that have wings like birds or butterflies.

This is done by gluing construction paper cut out of wings onto the object and then gluing eyes onto it and decorating them individual to every student. This could be used in a classroom setting to teach a lesson on animals or evolution with caterpillars and butterflies.

3. Questions-

How did the activity you attended make you feel?

- The activity that I attended was rock painting. Rock painting was very exciting and eye opening because we got to be creative but also to put ourselves in the shoes of students doing this activity. I also really enjoyed how we used the rocks for multiple different activities.

What are your ideas for integrating this activity into curriculum?

- This activity could be integrated into curriculum by not using rocks, but using any other type of materials. Finding materials that the students can bring from home or find outside is very rewarding because it is each students individual item which holds value.
