Week 7 Reflection

Blog Week 7

1. What could be your steps (maybe 3 or 4) to introduce children to different artists and specific art elements such as color, style, form, and content? (You can choose a level between PreK-G4)

There are many steps you can use to introduce children to different artists and specific elements such as color style form and content. You could use what we did in class with the parody art and make it something relatable to the children's lives, like a tv show or to animals or pets, to show important art pieces which could then lead into discussions about those artists and their history. This would be more for older students but some other ideas to engage younger students could be for color. You could do a color week and you focus on a new color everyday. Have the students find objects with that color or have them wear that color that day. For students who aren't super advanced and not beginners, you could use start to incorporate art and paint and do experiments with different colored paints to see how you can make different colors with just the primary colors.

2. Explain your parody artwork. Include your artwork evidence (e.g., photos, drawings, video, etc.) along with your written narrative on what & how you did it.

For my parody art, I used Van Gogh's Sunflower painting and found a picture of the solar system and used the 11 planets and 11 flowers in the pot to represent the solar system.

I didnt finish in class but here is the picture of the sketch I completed in class.

3. Tell me about how this week's activities impacted you?

This weeks a activities impacted me in a very positive way. I used to take a lot of art classes in high school and it was nice to be able to do that again. I also think this is a very affective unit for students at a young age because art and color is something we use and see almost everyday in our lives.

  1. im actually in love with your color week idea that is so smart and effective!! you could do the primary colors first then go into the secondary colors and have them bring in items that make up that color as well. like if it was green they can bring in a blue, yellow, and green item that day! i also love your parody art! so pretty
